Well where do you start? Everyone has their own ways of modding the smart fortwo.......
Back in 2005 I purchased a new Smart Fortwo Silverpulse 698cc (mk7), I went for this model as it already had the Brabus Mono V alloys, Roadster Paddle Shift Steering wheels and all silver panels to match the tridion.
It only took a couple of months before the modding started.
I wanted the car to look much different to the UK smart scene, as many a gross bodykit which looked like the car had ram-raided max power just didn’t cut it for me from recent shows.
So the main influence came from Germany, the heart of most performance tuning! Well I think so in power and style terms.
Smart parts bin.
My first thoughts were to see what smart already had in its own ‘parts bin’.
People seem to be scared of buying smart own parts, mainly thinking they could be super expensive.......... how wrong they can be!
Stage 1 (a)
Brabus Front Spoiler
Brabus Widearch
Brabus Rear Valance (Solid)
Brabus Front Scoops
Smart 16” Crossblade Alloys
All professionally painted
The most important thing about smarts own parts is the fitment is usually perfect, no trimming or cutting, just follow simple instructions and the jobs are very easy.
I must stress unlike other companies...... these can involve permanent fixtures and fittings!
Being happy with the visual image, I decided it was time to change the factory level of performance, the car had passed 5,000miles so the engine was nice and run in.
For all the 61ps smart had been kind to offer from the factory I knew the car had much more to offer in terms of acceleration, mid-range and v-max speeds.
