James is the proud owner of a smart
Bluewave Roadster. He describes the car as follows:
"The Bluewave is a Brabus spec roadster built to fill the gap whilst the
world waited for the Brabus to arrive. It has most the toys but not the
power (or the suspension) that the Brabus has.
"Originally it had the standard roadster engine (80ps) but has now been tuned
with a Digitec remap, to increase power to around 100hp, making it now almost
as quick as the real Brabus."
"However, after purchasing this car and wondering what all the complaining
was about, I had my first teasing glimpse: the interior lock stopped opening my
door. Following advice from others, this was an easy fix. Unfortunatley, 2 weeks later the
clutch began to slip. I thought an adjustment would solve it. However, after after further investigation,
it turned out that the inner rim of one of the Brabus Monoblocks was bent. So anyway the mechanic said there's
no point replacing the clutch before I sort the wheels. This is what I did and after considerable cost I got the
wheels straightened out. This has greatly reduced clutch slip with only a slight issue occuring in 6th gear. I
will probably need a new clutch eventually but it is not as urgent as previosuly expected!"
"But you can forgive this car everything when you find a gravel carpark and turn off the tracion control!"
"It's one of the best drivers cars I have driven to be honest, super sharp handling astounding acceleration
(even with a slipping clutch) for such a small engine and apart from the clutch thing I can see it being
a cheap car to run with my commute to work costing around £15 as opposed to the £40(ish) my Mitsubishi FTO needs."
