The bonnet on the fortwo 451 requires no tools to open, which allows easy access to all the simple service items such as the headlamp clusters, the washer bottle, the engine coolant and the brake fluid.

To release the bonnet, locate the two small levers in the front grille.

There are recesses for you to reach and pull the levers out towards the outside edge of the car.

The top corners of the bonnet have locating tabs. Gently pull the bonnet forward to release them.

The bonnet lifts off. Use the square mounts on the bonnet and place them in the holders on the car.

To remove the bonnet panel from the car completely, use a T25 torx bit to remove the strap retaining bolt.

Then remove the bonnet from the holders.
