Also known as the YAW sensor,
This sensor was only fitted to generation one Smarts, it won't be
found on any cars with ESP (Mk7's).
While turning a corner this
sensor monitors the cars sideways force, if you push it to far the
ECU will cut the power to avoid loosing traction on a bend.
To disable to sensor you have
to jack the front of the car up, drop the under tray and located it
(just to the left of the battery box).
There are two screws holding
the sensor to the chassis, remove one of the screws and slacken the
other, turn the whole sensor 90 degrees and re-tighten the slackened
screw.
The sensor will now only be
fixed in one place but this does not matter as the sensor has hardly
any weight to it.
By spinning this sensor 90
degrees the car thinks its going everywhere sideways, the ECU knows
this isn't possible so it ignores the sensor allowing you to go
around any corner as fast as you wish.
Please remember that this
sensor was installed to these cars for a reason, it wouldn't be wise
to do this modification if you are still running standard wheels
because of the lack of grip.
